The Big Day!

Like most little girls, I always dreamed of having a quinceañera. A quinceañera is a traditional party that most latino families celebrate when a girl turns 15. It represents how the young girl is growing up to become a woman. After many months of planning and stressing, on August 12, 2012, it was my big day! All my family & friends collaborated into making this dream come true. I still remember that day as if it was just yesterday.

Since early in the morning of that day, it was a complete craziness! Everybody had things to get ready so that it could turn out just the way I wanted it to. After getting my hair and makeup done, we were all rushing to get dressed and head over to church but as always we were running late. There was simply many things to get done and time wasn't enough! The priest gave a beautiful, amazing  mass and I gave thanks to god for letting me reach the age of 15.

2 hours later, my gregarious "chambelanes" (court) and I headed down to the beach and had a photo-shoot. I was getting super frustrated due to the heat of being under that huge quince dress. After that, we made our way to the location of where the party was happening. I was left speechless, when I entered everything was embellished with blue flowers, sparkly blue fabric that hung from the ceiling and red roses decorated the center of all the guests tables. It was absolutely stunning! At around 6:00pm, my court and I danced the waltz and surprise dance. We had prepared this for months. While dancing I made many mistakes but people didn't seem to notice. I could tell by the look of their faces, they enjoyed it.

Guests, family, friends and I had the time of our lives. We danced, laughed and enjoyed every moment. (Especially me) This party was totally not a fritter because I will cherish it for the rest of my life. It's something that only happens once in a life time and I'm thankful to my parents, without them this party wouldn't have been possible.

  1. Wow, that sounds awesome and you look beautiful! I had no idea that quinceañera was so involved...

Good use of vocab, but fritter is not used quite correctly. Please be sure to run your posts through PaperRater before publishing.

    Overall, a lovely post.
