Quarter 2 Reflection

I believe I have the same challenges I had back in Quarter 1. They consist of being very RETICENT. When it comes to doing the vocabulary and sharing our answers outloud, sometimes I'm unsure whether I'll pronounce the word correctly or have the right answer. I understand that it's a part of learning and I'm very INQUISITIVE through out the class period. Some areas in which I have improved are being able to put a little more details in my writings. Whether it's a free-write or essay. I have also gotton better at annotating a text and looking for the main ideas. Although sometimes, it can surely be NEBULOUS to me, I try my best to understand the concept. 

I have to say that I'm happy and pleased with my performance in Q2. I turned in all assignments and I try not to get distracted by the RAUCOUS class. Some skills that'll help me later on in the future are having a higher vocabulary and better writing skills. The vocab will help me in case I'm applying for a job, I would sound more intelligent and well mannered. An activity that I would like to see more is Bingo. It helped me prepare for vocab test by memorizing some words. Its also a fun way of learning and I'm sure we all enjoy it. 

Forest of Fear!

October 31 was surely a night full of screams, terror and monsters. As most years, I always dress up to show my Halloween spirit. I try to find something spooky; for example a witch, vampire or devil. This year was different, I was a chola! A chola is a teenage girl who associates closely with a cholo. Their style usually relates to subculture of first and second generation Mexican American girl influenced by hip-hop. Some would also be part of gangs. 

At around 8:30pm, my friend and I agreed to meet my cousin at ross and from there head on to the haunted house. We were all anxious to experience that horrifying house! At the "Forest of Fear", we got together with a whole bunch of other friends and waited patiently to enter the haunted house. Some of us were even reticent, didn't want to say much. As we were in line and my turn was getting closer, I felt incredibly terrified from hearing the screams of people already inside. I even wanted to turn around and not enter at all but my cousin didn't let me. I could tell she was exceedingly inquisitive about what awaited us in the house. When we finally entered the house, we were oblivious about the monsters ready to jump out of nowhere and frighten us. 

At the end, I was relieved to get out of there! I felt like my heart was going to jump out of my chest from all the screaming and scared I was. After the Forest of Fear, we head down to a party.  The dancing room was extremely vociferous with all the people shouting, laughing, and yelling. It was also extremely hott! I could feel the sweat going down my legs and arms. We ended up going home at about 1:30 am and as soon as we got to our house, we went directly to bed. I've hadn't have a night this in the longest time! It was truly amazing and entertaining. Time for round 2!

"Only those who dare to fail greatly can ever achieve greatly.”  By Robert F. Kennedy. This quote has a very powerful meaning to me as well as to others. There's been many occasions where I have encountered this quote and it always stands out to me. 

To me this quote means that only those who aren't afraid to fail at something (no matter what it may be) will have a better chance to achieve their objective. To be more clear; if you are afraid to fail and you don't do something for that reason, you simply won't achieve anything! However, if you just do it; you'll accomplish much more than what you thought evens though you failed. (I don't know if that made sense). You could also become more dexterous about something you failed in if you keep practicing and trying. 

I believe the reason for so many of us to be afraid of failure is due to being berated by others. Sometimes we're afraid to do something because we're scared of what others might think or say but in reality thats just a part of life. They will always talk, no matter if its about something exceptional or terrible you did. So, why be afraid of failure? 

This quote can relate to my life because when I was younger, I would be afraid of failure. For example, when I was being taught how to ride a bike, I didn't didn't want to try it on my own due to not wanting to fail. But little did I know, that by failing I was also achieveing many things.

Blog #6: Reflection

In class I liked how we were given the time in class to complete our essay. It was beneficial to us because in occasions we may not have time or material to do it at home. Sometimes that's the main reason why homework doesn't get done. 

Sometimes, in class I would face challenges that I had to overcome. Some of them were not being able to use my cellphone in class. I'm sure many of my classmates faced that same challenge. But I know it was for the best because it could've been a huge detriment for our education. We would've been berated if we decided to take them out! 

I am indeed euphoric with the grade I will be receiving. I honestly feel I did my best and always made sure homework/ classwork was turned in on time. I also made sure I wasn't left behind and studied for when tests were given. 

My participation in class is much better than any other class. In here, I actually get involved in class discussions and answer questions. I would say I'm getting better at it! I come to class everyday because I know that if I'm absent just one day, I'll miss tons of work. 

In Q2, we should continue to do blogs and vocabulary. It will get us more dexterous on our writing and speaking. We should also continue to watch violin music videos. I feel that once in a while its good to take a break off all that work. I will prepare for success by continuingon paying attention in class, being on time and turing in work. 

Where would I be in 5 years?

It's kind of crazy pictureing how our lives may be in just 5 years! I'm pretty sure it will be completely different from now, with much more responsibilities. In 5 years, I see myself diverging from my parents lives and getting my own department/house, maybe even starting my own family. I also see myself working in a job that fits me and one in which I am comfortable at. 

I'm still quite unsure about wether I want to attend college or not. I know it would make me more successful and have more opportunities in life, but in occasions it's hard to make a decision. Graduating High school is already a big accomplishment for me because nobody else in my family has (since in Mexico the things are way different from here) and I would be the first one.  Most probably I will go into work right after High School. I will be applying at jobs that are suitable for me; for example at a restaurant, hotel or some kind of store. Maybe I will even pick coffee (not my favorite but I will surely earn lots of money). 

When I picture myself having my own house, I also see myself embellishing it. With big black doors at the entrance, a nice green/clean backyard and nice wooden furniture would be decorating the living room. My house will be as beautiful as a brand new phone! Just imagining it, makes me euphoric with excitement. I really hope I accomplish my goals. But in order to do that I need to be focused and not let people bring me down. 

Mid-Quarter Reflection

So far in this class I have really enjoyed how we go over our vocabulary words together as a whole class and pronounce each term. Those techniques are helpful and I feel like I'm getting more dexterous in my usage of vocab words! I also like how everyone in class venerates each other and they don't say rude comments about one another. Ms. Kline, you sure know how to keep this class motivated and on task at all times! In the beginning of each class period I feel very lethargy and not wanting to do anything but as we start doing our work I get more involved and become less lazy. 

Some of the challenges I'm facing in class is talking out loud or being "called-on". I'm a super shy person and that's always been a problem for me. Over the years I have gotten better though! Another challenge I have is not finishing worksheets when certain time is given to us. I work at a slow paste. To overcome these challenges I will try to get more involved in class discussions and give my opinions when needed. It'll be hard but I'm sure I can do it. 

I'm usually in class everyday, seated when the tardy bell rings. Whenever my "stick" gets picked, I do my best to answer the questions being asked. I also turn in my work on time, in the tray or on Edmodo. Everytime I turn something in I make sure its well done and includeds all expectations being asked on that assignment. 

In the coming months, I'm looking forward to getting better in my vocabulary and writing skills. Also being more interactive with others and of course getting good grades.

My Special, Sweet, Stylish Sister.

Well where should I start, my sister is like my 2nd mother. I love her to death, she's always there for me when I need her or any kind of support I desire. Yes, we may have big/small agruements but we always end up making up and laughing about it. I have to say she spoils me more than my mom. Everytime I want new outfits(clothes) I go to her because I know she'll take me shopping. She didn't have any kids of her own so maybe thats why. 

Her name is Marisol. In spanish it's a means "ocean and sun" Thats literally what her name is saying, its just put together. My sister is 15 years older than me, when I was a baby she would be the one taking care of me and as she said "I was her doll". People on the streets would even ask her if I was her child, since she would carry me everywhere. She's a very gregarious person and definitely has discretion when it comes to style. Usually when I buy something, I always want her opinion because she will be straight up and tell me if it looks good or not. But I'm not the only one receiving help, I also help HER out when she needs a translator. She doesn't speak English too good so that's when I offer my help to her. I go to doctor appointments with her, make phone calls and send texts in English. You can say we get along pretty well. 

My sister has gone through many difficult situations in her life. But somehow she resilients fast and doesn't let it bring her down. She's a strong person and gives amazing advice! She understands me and gives me tips on how to handle things. Theres also times where she's completely euphoric and decides to be facetious. Love it when that happens, always the best! I wouldn't trade her for the world and I'm extremely lucky to have her as my sister.
